THE STORY BEHIND MY PAINTINGS

For as long as I can remember, I've been drawn to colour, creativity and making things. Painting has always been part of who I am, although my journey to becoming an artist wasn't quite a straight line. I chose to study Media Production and went on to work as a web designer, enjoying the creativity that came with it. Yet, something was missing. It wasn't until I returned to painting that I realised what that missing piece was. Painting had always been where I felt most myself, and it remains my greatest passion today.

For me, painting always begins with colour. It might be the soft pinks of blossom appearing in spring, the rich golds of autumn leaves, the energy of a city, or simply a moment that catches my eye whilst travelling or walking through London. I am fascinated by how colour can change the way we feel and how it connects us to a season, a place or a memory.

When I begin a painting, I start with a blank white canvas. I pour, layer and move the paint, allowing it to flow naturally and create its own language of colour, texture and form. There is always a balance between guiding the work and letting it surprise me. It's often those unexpected moments that become my favourite parts of a painting.

I love the idea that a painting can take on a life of its own. As colours merge and evolve, new shapes and spaces emerge, creating something that wasn't there before. My work isn't intended to represent one particular landscape or place, but rather the feeling of being immersed within it – the warmth of summer, the freshness of spring, the movement of water, or the vibrant energy of city life.

I hope my paintings bring a sense of joy, calm and curiosity to the spaces they inhabit. More than anything, I want them to invite people to pause for a moment, discover something new each time they look, and perhaps be reminded of a colour, place or feeling that means something to them.

My work has been collected throughout the UK and internationally for homes, hotels, restaurants, offices and cruise ships, and has been exhibited in solo and group exhibitions as well as at prestigious London Hotels and leading Art Fairs.
